Anjie Fisher Jakob has been capturing the world through her lens for over two decades, yet it wasn't until last year that she found a new home with the Georgia Professional Photographers Association (GPPA). Her journey to GPPA began during the solitude of 2020, when an online search led her to this vibrant community.

In 2022, Anjie eagerly enrolled in Michael Boatright's PPA workshop, "Making Photographs Like the Old Masters - with Film!" This was followed by Linda Carroll's enchanting "Magical Santa Experience" workshop in 2023. Despite being a long-time PPA member, Anjie often felt isolated in the competitive world of photography. She had attended Imaging USA in 2019 and its virtual counterpart in 2021, but her introverted nature left her feeling disconnected.

Determined to change this, Anjie attended Imaging 2024 in Louisville with a mission: to dive into every networking opportunity available. This proactive approach, coupled with GPPA outings, transformed her experience. Last summer, she joined GPPA's tour of PPA HQ and participated in Georgia Zumwalt's "Commercial Photography Workshop" in August. The highlight was attending Chance and Mike Bentley's Fall Potluck and Bonfire, where she met Wendy Lenox. This connection led to fill-in photography work and introduced her to another professional photographer in Augusta.

By February, during Imaging in Grapevine, Texas, Anjie felt surrounded by friends and colleagues, a stark contrast to her earlier experiences. Sharon Fuente's support at Anjie's debut showing at the Atlanta Photography Group gallery was a testament to how far she had come, thanks to the supportive network within GPPA. These experiences, combined with GPPA outings, changed EVERYTHING!

Anjie expresses her gratitude to GPPA, acknowledging how it has helped her overcome long-standing fears and mental blocks, paving the way for her to achieve her PPA certification and degrees. Her studio, blueleven photography, is a blend of her favorite color and number, reflecting her unique style. Anjie captures everything from classic cars to Santa visits, skillfully using both digital and film, with Lightroom as her go-to for post-processing.

Stillleben an der Senfmühle (Still Life at the Mustard Mill) – the still life shown below was photographed at a mustard mill in east Germany, near her sister-in-law's home. This image was part of the recent Choice 2025 exhibit at the Atlanta Photography Group Gallery.
