Michael Boatright is a Certified Professional Photographer based in Atlanta, Georgia, specializing in Portraiture and Documentary Imaging. He has achieved the professional degree of Master of Photography, conferred by the Professional Photographers of America, founded in 1858.
Storytelling is Michael’s passion and he brings this enthusiasm to every facet of his professional work. Throughout his life, he has consistently sought to explore innovative ways of telling the human story by merging traditional analog photography with digital audio/visual and print techniques to celebrate the magic and wonder of life.
His relationship with photography began as a teenager, when
his father, a professional photographer for many years, taught him camera and darkroom techniques. In recent years, Michael has returned to his film roots, augmenting the digital work he performs for clients with fine art imagery using a variety of analog processes. He is among a handful of under 1,000 photographers, worldwide, skilled at using the
19th Century Wet Collodion process to make unique images on glass and aluminum plates.
As an enthusiastic member of the worldwide analog renaissance, Michael is thrilled to be making portraits and fine-art images for clients using ‘old-school’ techniques and restored antique cameras.
Michael believes that “There is a quality to an silver halide image unparalleled by those made using digital workflows. In this industry, you can no longer compete on price—you must offer unique services and products. People know and understand the words artisan and handmade and their implications on creative quality and style.”
