PHOTOWORKS GEORGIA (formerly The Georgia School of Professional Photography) is operated by the Georgia Professional Photographers Association, Inc. (GPPA). The school was established in 1967, as a means of providing excellent photographic education for professional photographers.
Since its beginning, the institiution has been an Affliate of the Professional Photographers of America, Inc. (PPA) and is authorized to award PPA merits to those students who are members of that organization. The Georgia School is one of the approximately 17 such organizations in the nation to hold PPA Affiliate status.
PHOTOWORKS GEORGIA does not hold classes year-round. Instead, its operation is limited to a one-week workshop which may be held at various times throughout the year. There are always several classes that are taught by the top professionals from all over North America. For over forty years, these classes have been held on campus of the North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) in Clarkesville, GA. The Photography Department of NGTC has excellent studio and lab facilities, all of which are available to our classes.
Even though the school was established with the intent of providing photographic educational opportunities for members of the GPPA, its classes are also open to non-members. Pre-requisite experience may be required for certain advanced level classes.
